First week of Live

Pom-pidgeon hybrid

Pom-pidgeon hybrid

Here is where I confess that I once again added Crowns to my account.  It’s been all of a week and I am on my 3rd pair of wings.

I was a tiny bit disappointed when I equipped the Awesomeness Wings, and they were completely invisible under my gargantuan lop ears.  I passed them off to my Tarune alt (who is only level 10, but I digress), and they look pretty cute.

I feel like I’m leveling really slow.  I hear about a lot of people that have level 60 and 80 toons already, and I just don’t know how they do it.  I’m only level 28 so far.  I know I don’t play as often as some people, but it seems like there just hasn’t been enough time to get so high.  They must grind all day.

Maybe they bought one of those bobbing-head bird contraptions and it just mashes tilde while they watch Trigun and eat ice cream.  Perhpas that’s just my personal leveling fantasy.  I don’t know.  I leveled slow-ish in WoW too.  Maybe I’m just too distractLETS GO RIDE BIKES!

One of my favorite Neo Steam blogs

I was reading through the other blog contest entries today and came across one I absolutely loved.  Poms!Wonderful is…well…they’re wonderful!  Really cute screenshots, and fun to read.  I’m sad I missed the launch party due to rolling Elerd.  These guys make me want to roll Rog just to hang out with them.  Well, ok, and to have fox ears.

Keep up the good work, Poms!  I hope you win the contest!

I later realized this could be construed as aggressiveness

I later realized this could be construed as aggressiveness

Ah, Riall.  Land of incredible xp and random Rogs bleating insults at you in Party names.  I had first gone to the Garden a couple of days ago, but hadn’t ventured into the center PvP area.  I finally went out there with Zilla, and harrassed encouraged him to do some PvP with me.

The first thing I noticed was that the clunky WASD support and wonky click-targeting made it very, very hard to be effective.  Fortunately it didn’t seem like I was the only one affected; there were at least 3 people we attacked that didn’t do a thing before they fell over dead.  I can only hope this is due to not being used to the UI/controls, and not clinical retardation.

I know Atlus has mentioned updating the engine for WASD, and I’m really glad they’re working on this.  I’d also like there to be a way to make your own keybinds, as I find myself struggling with my tiny hands to hit skills I don’t use regularly.

I think Neo Steam PvP could really be exciting with just a few tweaks.  Zilla noticed almost immediately that he could kite people forever, so it seems like more snares are needed for different classes.  Just don’t add it in until we get bored of him kiting people while I shoot them in the ass.  :3 Also, I can’t even count the times I’ve been curbstomped by pet classes, so I’m thinking summoners especially need a little toning down.

There was some other stuff I wanted to include, but I’ll type it up when I’m more lucid.  In the meantime, please check out this blog post over at Iachoku, I promise you’ll at least chuckle.

Look, honey, I found them on the ground

Look, honey, I found them on the ground

Ok, Ok, so I did it.  I bought Neo Steam crowns.  I held out for like a whole 11 hours though.  I’m sure Zilla is exceedingly proud of me, and he’ll tell me so as soon as he’s done locking himself in the bathroom and crying.

My Pom now looks like some kind of fat rabbit emo hipster, and I am GLAD.  GLAD I SAY.  In fact, I will probably even buy angel wings to replace the phoenix ones when they expire, despite the fact that I get the beta ones on Tuesday.  I wonder what they will look like?

Anyway, today is Zilla’s birthday!  I think he is 13 today.  Maybe I’ll get him some emo glasses, too.  Or a bottle of Jack.  He said he needed a drink, for some reason.  I can’t imagine why.

NS is live!

Early bird gets the wings

Early bird gets the wings

I’m really happy that Neo Steam came back up so fast.  I don’t think I’ve experienced an MMO actually coming live before the time it was supposed to.  I’m used to Blizzard and their half-assed way of doing things.  It seems like NS has a really amazing support staff.

The first thing I did when I logged back in was run to my warehouse to pick up my Early Access item.  These phoenix wings look so cool!  I feel like a little sparrow.  Apparently these aren’t the permanent wings from being in the beta, so its like getting two prizes!

They have definitely whetted my appetite for vanity items, and Zilla is going to have to physically restrain me from spending all my money in the Atlus Store.

Whoops, maybe I shouldn’t have typed that.  Now he knows.

Beta Ending

Neo Steam, I hardly knew thee

Neo Steam, I hardly knew thee

I just heard via the Neo Steam Twitter account that open beta will be ending at 3pm.  Wow!  Beta went by so fast!  I went into this thinking I’d have at least a month to poke around and learn what the game was all about.  Now I kind of regret making so many alts instead of taking one toon further into the endgame.

To those I played with in Beta and Early Access, I hope to see you again in the live release, and I hope you had as much fun as I did.  :3

There are several entries to this blog that I had started but not yet posted.  Look for several more updates here throughout the day as I prepare for Neo Steam to go live!

Gadgeteering

WHEEEE

WHEEEE

I mentioned in my last post that I was interested in trying out other classes.

I rolled a Machinist, just to see how it was…I now have a Gadgeteer named Diode who is nearly the same level as my main.  I absolutely love this class.  I love that I can stand on a hill and pick off all the mobs around me with my steam gun, and loot them at my leisure.  I love crafting things.  I love healgunning people (the most entertaining part, imo).  I complained of not having found my niche- now I think I have!

I still have a lot about this class to experience.  There are different skills to craft bombs and seige engines at later levels, and I’d like to see what that’s all about.

So far though, this is amazing.  I’m glad I gave this class a try.

I was going to make some sort of Inspector Gadget joke here, but I’m too tired to be witty.  Just pretend I ended this post with something really clever.
